The Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals Code Act 1994 (Agvet Code) establishes the national regulatory framework for the evaluation, registration and control of agricultural and veterinary chemical products in Australia. The APVMA administers the scheme, which covers the assessment and registration of chemical products and their active constituents, approval of labels, manufacturing and quality standards, supply chain controls, record-keeping obligations, product recalls, adverse experience reporting, environmental risk assessment and maximum residue limits.
